Love Square? (NXT EP103 Reviewed)

NXT Began with Derrick Bateman taking on Heath Slater. Slater would take control of Bateman from the get go. This was until Bateman began to build up a major comeback, getting a 2 count of a running swinging neckbreaker. Slater would float over and hit his finishing move, a sleeper slam for the win.

Backstage Kaitlyn was talking to Johnny Curtis, Curtis was saying that the relationship would not last, as Derrick would go on and on about Kaitlyn.

Later Kaitlyn would be talking to Bateman, the two were discussing the recent match of Bateman. Maxine would interrupt them, shouting at Bateman, asking why he losed. Kaitlyn would chip in with a comment that sparked an argument between the two divas. Bateman would break the two up. Curtis would appear from the back after spying on the three, with the quote "it's getting weird"

Kaitlyn would gain control over Maxine with some technical wrestling. Maxine eventually broke out a submission but met another scoop slam. Maxine would gain control and begin to use some technical wrestling briefly. Kaitlyn would pick up some offense with some shoulder blocks but Maxine would gain the win with a botched roll up.

The rivalry between this has become a bit more interesting with the addition of Kaitlyn. The match however, Kaitlyn has some wrestling skill, Maxine has none. That's the result, a botch, Maxine needs some more training in my opinion, got a big mouth with little to show for it in the ring.

Trent Barreta would take on Tyson Kidd in a very technical match. Tyson would showcase his wrestling background, Trent would counter knocking Tyson out and hit a corkscrew kick to Tyson's head. Barreta hit his head on the floor during the move, in the ring Trent would continue his highflying offense Tyson would counter hitting a huge german suplex. Barreta would counter Tyson's attempt at a superback suplex and again built up some offense. Trent would hook a roll up however Tyson would roll through to get the win. Post-Match the two shared a hand shake.

Back stage Tyson proposed the two should tag team.

By far the best match of the night. I would have thought that the match would have been shortened so that Trent could have medical help sooner. I also enjoyed the handshake, great sportsman ship. As for the tag team, yes they will make a great team. I want to see the ressurection of the tag team division.

Titus would be on commentary for the match between Percy Watson vs Darren Young. Darren and Percy showcased athletcism, Percy however was granted the advantage after a botch by Young. Darren would gain control after trapping Percy in the apron and grounded showtime. Percy attempted to build up soome momentum after breaking a light hold. Percy quickly built up some momentum and would finish Darren with the swinging face buster. Post-Match Titus said to Percy he wasn't go to attack him, and when he does, Percy won't see it coming.

This rivalry has become stale. Nothing interesting about this. Darren Young and Titus were bitter rivals, and in a second become instant best buddies?

Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks would compete against Jimmy and Jay Uso. Jay would take control of Curt and out wrestle him. The Usos remained in control despite Curt and Tyler tagging into each other. Curt would lure Jimmy outside, which let Tyler deliver a big boot to Jay, with the ref watching, to gain control. Tyler and Curt tagged in and out, preventing the Usos from tagging. and wearing down Jay.Jay  finally built back some momentum against Curt, setting up a hot tag. Jimmy would then unload on Curt and legal partner Tyler. After some innovative tag team move, Tyler and Jimmy were left in the ring. Curt would hit Jimmy in the chest with the cane giving the team the win. Matt Striker came down to inform the referee of what he missed, Curt would deliver a blow to Matt before leaving the ring.

I will say this, people can knock NXT, but the tag team matches here are far better than those on RAW and Smackdown involving the mega stars. The match was fantastic and I noticed a new tag move on part of the Usos. I  would prefer the tag team titles to be moved to NXT, as RAW and Smackdown have completely neglected it since 2007.

Overall I would rate NXT: 6/10
1)Tyson vs Barreta
2)New Tag Team?
3) Kaitlyn on NXT
4)Storyline developing (love square)
5) Great Tag team match
6) Striker punch.

More Drama (NXT ep102 review)

NXT would kick off with Titus O' Neil complaining about Alex Riley and asked him to come to the ring, however it would be a former nemisis, Mr No Days Off, Darren Young. Darren said that he did not respect Titus or like him, but he did respect him, for turning his back on the fans. The two would then shake hand. Percy Watson would come down to the ramp and stated that he would never under-estimate Titus again. They would both banter about fans, Titus insulting, Percy defending them. Titus asked for Percy to come into the ring, instead Alex Riley would come down to the ramp with Percy. Alex Riley would compare Titus to the Miz when he took a drastic career fall. The two teams then exchanged blows, until Riley and Percy threw Titus and Young out the ring. Matt Striker came down and announced a tag team match, between Percy & Riley vs Young & O' Neil.

The tag team match between the two began with Young and Watson. Darren would control  Percy with submission until Watson countered with a hip toss followed by a outside dive. Darren Young would hit a side suplex on the apron. This gave the team complete control with a tag to Titus. After a Hot Tag to A-Ry, Riley picked up some major offense. Titus would breaj the cover, this lead to Titus being thrown out by Percy, Titus would throw Percy into the against the apron, he then made a blind tag to Young, Titis would hit his sit down spinebuster for the win.

The tag match was good, not the best quality compared to PeR and The Usos. I believe WWE are trying to make Titus a dominant competitor on NXT. I was a little annoyed that he and Darren who had been fueding for weeks made it up just like that. Bad writing there.

Up next would be a match between two great cruiser-weights, Trent Barreta vs Tyson Kidd. The two would showcase technical and flexibility. Trent would take control with a hip toss. Kidd would reverse with an arm drag sending Barreta outside and followed up with a dive. Back in the ring Barreta took control with an enziguri and built up some offense until Tyson Kidd would counter with a spinning back kick.Trent would build up some offense again with a running dropkick. Kidd would reverse the tornado DDT, and would hit another kick to the head, Barreta quickly climbed the rope hitting a tope rope Hurracarana on Kidd, however Kidd rolled through getting the 3 count.

My opinion of this match was great cruiser-weight action, I miss it so on the big brands. Both Trent and Tyson are amazing in the ring. I wish WWE would bring back the cruiser-weight title, they have quite a few cruiser-weights, but I believe they need more athletes in order to restore the title. This match was the best match of the night.

Heath Skater would come down and repeat the footage of  his win last week over and over again. Bateman would interrupt this and insult Slater, Slater would return with some trash talk, and announced that he would be causing damage. Bateman would show some losses that Slater had had on Smackdown, with loser annotations. Bateman and Slater would fight, Bateman would knock Slater outside with a dropkick. Maxine would come down to the ring for her match against Alicia Fox.

The match was mainly a cat fight between the two, very short Johnny Curtis would distract Maxine so Alicia could hit a roll-up for the win.

Post match Maxine would be searching for Johnny Curtis, however ran into Kaitlyn. Maxine would say to Kaitlyn, then reacting jealously to Kaitlyn, "you like Derrick" Kaitlyn said nothing and walked off.

This match was just a promo for the rivalry, yawn.

Overall I would rate NXT 4/10
1) Kaitlyn
2) Barreta match
3) A-Ry decent in ring wrestling
4) Annotations
